That may be the right long-term decision. It is rarely the right decision for an unplanned shutdown.

Establish what has actually failed

Before ordering a terminal, confirm that the HMI is the source of the fault. A blank screen can result from a failed display, but it can also be caused by loss of the 24 VDC supply, a damaged connector, a blown fuse, poor earthing or an issue upstream in the control panel.
